When looking at all the different types of cat litters on the shelves the main question most people ask is. What is the difference between brand name, aka expensive cat litter and discount cat litter?

There are two main types of cat litter:

Crystal Litter
You will often find that the crystal litter is usually not a discount cat litter. It is usually the most expensive type of litter on the market. It is seen as a premium litter. Although reviews are mixed on whether it is superior to other cat litters. Many crystal litters claim to remove the smell of faeces and urine from the litter.

Paper Litter
This type of cat litter is usually shredded paper which has been pulped into pellets. It does tend to soak up a lot of the liquid from the urine and absorb the faeces. As with the crystal litter, each brand and type of pellet cat litter is different. Often the quality will differ from brand to brand with this type of litter.

Trail and error is sometimes the only way to find the best cat litter for your cat. Don't forget that sometimes your cat will not like the feel or smell of a particular cat litter, cats can be fussy.

Discount Cat Litter is generally cheaper and you usually pay less for more of the product. Some people will change their cat litter everyday. If you go through a lot of litter then discount cat litter is going to save you a considerable amount of money throughout the year.

At the end of the day if your cat is happy to use discount cat litter and it is doing the job, then you are better off using it and saving yourself some money.
